There are 694 pictures of Jacket on my iPhone that I’ve decided are too amazing to delete. Is there such a thing as a photograph hoarder?

The Kid jacked my metrocard
Email from Brian: The kid jacked my metrocard. I didn't realize it last night because I rode the free shuttle, but when I went to get on the subway this morning I realized I didn't have it. I also remembered that somebody decided to "rearrange" my wallet yesterday. Can you take a look when you get home - it's a brand new unlimited ride!
Me: yeah, i saw it. on the counter. sucks! so sorry........
Email from Brian: at least I know it wasn't eaten, ripped, spilled on, peed on, used as a blanket, fed to a doll, chewed up, or fed to Henry. I guess I'll get it tonight or tomorrow, depending...
Me: it probably was, but it's safe now.

Snap’s Mom’s attorney just left me a voicwmail message saying he would try to reach me again later.

Our Family Team Conference (FTC- kind of like an update meeting that happens every 6 months) is going to have all three lawyers at it. I don’t think that happens very often…

Brian just dug a booger out of Jacket’s nose for me. Could there be anything sexier?
I'm ready for the weekend
I refrained from calling Snap’s ACS worker and instead gave my foster agency homefinding coordinator the contact info. He called (got voicemail) and wrote a kick-ass email. At the same time Jacket’s case worker also left a message.
Now that it’s documented and all the right people are informed, I feel totally at peace with whatever happens.

Duh, I called 311
I said “My godson was just placed in foster care again and I want to find him”.
Was given 212.676.9422 and transferred. That number told me to call the borough. He could be in any stinking borough so I started down the list. Got the coolest lady who looked it up for me and said “Oh, damn my friend had this case” (Unfortunately she doesn’t now). Got the current ACS worker’s name and number...
Snap is lost in the bowels of NYC foster care
I’ve called three of Snap’s Mom’s boyfriends’ phone numbers but they’re all disconnected now. I could call her mother but their relationship is incredibly strained, I don’t want to pile on any problems…
UPDATE: you know, not to make more work for ACS- but I think there should be a database that foster parents could sign-up for if they’re willing...

WHERE THE HELL IS SNAP?!
I was just thinking, all three of my foster kids are still in foster care. How is it that I wasn’t able to prevent them from being bounced around? How is it that I’ve already failed at my goal of being just one child’s “permanent foster home”?
I understand that there are many reasons why a child can’t be returned to the same foster home, but are they ever?? ...

Uh oh. All of my ACS readers fell off the map. Didn’t mean to scare anyone away. I don’t have any magical (or even smart) internet powers. Just basic statcounter…
playing around with my tag line again (see left)
Not sure that’s quite what I want to say? I bet someone reading this can better articulate what it is that I’m trying to do. I’d love for a few of you to help me brainstorm. The ‘thinking globally, acting locally’ kind of annoys me but it’s closer that the previous “making it hip to be a foster parent” line…

1. Haven’t heard back from Snap’s Mom
2. The homefinding unit of my foster agency has diligently been trying to find out what other foster agency has Snap- to no avail
3. Despite this past bullshit, I reached out to Snap’s Mom’s attorney (after confirming in ecourts that he’s still on the case) and left a voicemail message that I hope will be interpreted as...

Dear ACS person who has read my blog every single day (except for those 2 weeks in august when you were prob on vacation),
Could you make sure Snap gets back to my foster agency? Homefinding is ready for him. He’s likely coming in with a different last name. Who knows from what borough…possibly staten island.
Many thanks.
Snap update
1. Brian is the best
2. I’m scheming for my friend, Melissa, from work to take Snap. She wants him. She took half of the classes at my foster care agency but then dropped out last year because she was going to adopt her brother’s new baby. That fell through last month. She has daycare, a crib and me. Then down the road I might still be open to adopting him.
(how i got this crazy font i...

HOLY SHIT YOU GUYS
It’s 1:38am and I didn’t answer a blocked call. It was Snap’s Mom.
Voicemail message: “Hey Rebecca, It’s me Snap’s Mom. I’m calling you, I wanted to talk to you about keeping Snap because he’s in ACS. I’ll call you back, bye.”

Update: 5 minutes later

I keep fantasizing about trading Jacket’s mom in for one of the other birth moms in the waiting room at the foster agency. It sounds crazy to say but a lot of them seem really cool.

Don't detectives make house calls?
I received a call today from Detective T. and he said that he needed to see Jacket in order to close up an old case. Turns out that ‘old case’ in my OSI from June. You remember, the one Jacket’s mom called in on me which required that I pee in front of a poor admin assistant.
When I asked when the detective would like to come over he instead said that I had to bring Jacket an...

in contrast to the visitation coach...
While I was in the waiting room after the hellish meeting, a mom came in screaming about ‘all’ foster parents. Since I was the only one I got a personal performance of her rage. A few minutes later Jacket came running up to me causing the Mom to ask “Are you a foster parent?”. I was pretty nervous to answer her but she replied “You seem like a really nice foster...
