Some new gift rules

I’ve formulated some new personal rules about gifts for Jacket given the recent discovery that everything was gone. 

1.  Only dollar store items, used books and OPENED craft supplies are going home with Jacket.

2.  I’m actually going to try to give her one used/goodwill book every time I see her as opposed to a couple of new books here and there.  Content of the books is going to matter less (at this age), the goal is mere exposure- even if it’s just for the bus ride home before her mom takes it away.

3.  I’m going to go ahead and open a saving account for Jacket’s college, even if I can’t do it in her name.  If you can find one that doesn’t require a social security number (all previously recommended do), let me know.  Otherwise, I’m on the look-out for a non-profit, or attorney or accountant who will be my witness of sort that I’m not siphoning off money (in the event friends want to contribute instead of buying gifts).  Maybe raise some money and then put it all in a 15 year CD or something?
