Needless to say, it blew up

I should have known Jacket’s mom was in crazy mode because she was back to telling people she was moving to Florida- her fictional escape place.   Nonetheless, I let her know that ACS visited my house, as they said they would after getting her permission naming me as emergency backup parent. I doubt she heard anything I said after that because she had already told everyone that the case was closed.

In true dramatic fashion, Jacket’s mom refused to come up to my apartment at the last minute so I met them on the street.  Jacket was hysterical because her mom was backing out of HER plan to come to my place for dinner. I tried to calm Jacket down, all the while supporting her mom’s decision that they were going home and ‘moving to Florida on Wednesday’.  Finally, I left.  Jacket was still screaming and the notary was trying to get into my apartment.  I thanked the notary anyway and then went into my apartment and cried.  I’ve never seen Jacket upset like that.  She was begging and crying for me. Within 10 minutes Jacket’s mom was blowing up my phone with voicemail with messages and texts that they weren’t really moving, she’s actually going to move close to my apartment and that she’s coming on Sunday and I should have the notary there. I waiting an hour and then text this:

“You said that last Sunday and tonight but you didn’t come. I’m confused and Jacket must be really confused. You’re moving then you’re not. Call me when your life is more stable. I don’t want to interfere with Jacket’s routine. It’s important for her to feel stable and safe.”

I’ve received several text messages and calls but I’m not going to respond this weekend.
